City View Cafe

Alright, it's kind of calmed down now and with it being 23:31 - gives me time to actually write a decent poem.
(deleted what it said, it was pretty much a few words that rhymed)
And no picture today, tried to make one with my words. 'Cause I'm awesome
(and lazy)

The sky turned from the palest of blue
to a smudge of lipstick pink
then to grey
and then to black
with as if someone had breathed
smoke from a cigarette
a cloud floating along
outlined by the amber glow
of the street lamp down below
looking slightly alone
and out of place
but nonetheless full of grace.

Walking Through Autumn

Hello :)
As ever, thank you for reading this, win points for you.
I was just wondering if I could ask you (if you don't mind doing s0) to leave a comment saying which country you're from and how you found this little page of mine. This isn't anything like getting more comments will get me more attention or anything like that, it's simply me being curious :')
I'd be really interested in your answers!

Leaves brush the streets
boots and laces round my feet
a brisk wind caresses my face
while colours begin to change and race
green, orange, yellow, then brown
let's see which will be the first
to touch the ground.

Sky wrapped up, all in grey
keeping the snow out at bay
coats begin to spring all around
like flowers from the bud
and we're all acting
as we know we should,

Heads down
layers on
it's time for us
to just keep moving on.

The Grass is Greener, We Just Have to Look

Nearly done 300 posts now. Bloody hell.

Patches of green
soaked in the sun
despite the crisp air
and topped off with a fountain
makes it more so serene.

But it's not just
the places like this
soft on the eye
as petal lipped kiss

If we look closely
with our eyes of the ground
we can try and find
the beautiful places
all around.

Yay for shitty clichés :')

Blossoming Smile

Smile flits across the face
a blossom petal in the spring
not that lasting
but appreciated and welcome
while it does.

It barely begins to grow
not really there to put on a show
for the camera
or acknowledgement of others.
a personal smile
intended for the person alone
lost in their memories
and travelling  in their own world.

But to everyone else
they are just a stranger
smiling to themselves
and the smile fades
as quickly as the blossom
blows away in a breeze.

Falling in to Dreams

This is a dream I had last night - it was really vivid so thought I could try and make a poem from it :) Also since it's based on a dream, I doubt I can google a picture of it that fits the picture in my head so like some other poems on here, no picture for today so you can come up with your own.

Not quite flying
supported by a rope
vivid green trees
their leaves out of reach
star bust explosions
of yellow blossoms
spread across the lime
green grass below.

Fear of falling
when looking down
upon the road like
river flowing below
grey, despite the
blanket of blue above.

People are swimming
some are up in the ropes
I take your hand
trying to feel safe
fingers assured
by a strong grip
strange,
I didn't think
I'd be here with you

We let go
but the rope lurches
and my arms wrap
round your neck,
here I feel safest of all
when holding you
and finally I manage
to enjoy the view.

Pastry Pleasantness

Voices stroll along in the breeze
polite manners join in
the sun approves
and decides to glow
no one here is for a show
simply together
for the sake of doing so.

Tender wrinkled hands
fold over pastry
wedding ring
like part of the skin
apples get comfy on the plate
no fuss
or frustration
if there is a mistake.

It seems with age
we become accustomed
to one another
no pressure
just appreciate the time
the company
and are able to savour
the flavour
of an apple pie.

Soft

Not actually oneword.com this time - just thought of a word and went from there.

Rose petals
baby's skin
silk
hugs
pillows
breeze
eroded rock
shells
worn clothes
melting chocolate
sun coated grass
innocent laughter

The kind of feelings
which quicken
the heart
but soften
the soul.

Just Flowing By

Surrounded by green
enveloped in peace
the sound of water
trickles through the silence
with the long stemmed
blades of grass, which
whisper to one another
in the breeze.

The sky caresses the trees
matching your breath
the chatter of the birds
with the rhythm of a heart beat
while the rocks sit under
the water, watching time
flow by
just forever,
watching the clouds chase the sky.

Seeking Wonder

Find wonder
hope
love

Discover
the world
colour
imagination

Where?

In the stars
the clouds
the streets
in their eyes
you know the one.

Violet

So I'm working tomorrow (if you're interested it's casual catering work) and pretty sure I'll be finished quite late so thought I'd post a poem on here so I won't have to worry about it tomorrow. Oh and oneword.com for the title =]

Oh and also - this was posted at 00:08 my time - but it appears that the timings on blogger is not GMT .... but I assure you that this is FRIDAY's poem.

Petals caressed by a breeze
soft
gentle
sitting on the grass
nicely complimenting
the green.

Quietly there
shadowed by the higher
grandeur
of others
but content
in its colour
for no one will forget it's name
when it is the same
as it's colour.

Ensnared

200th post. Fook me o.o
Anyway, not intentionally meaning to mark the number but I'm doing something a bit different this blog. My friend Andy (HAI ANDY) is a really good photographer and he wanted me to write a poem on one of his photos because he's vain and what not.
I'm sure my hundreds of followers..... awkward cough..... will make a difference to his number of views. Well, or not. Anyway, I'm happy to attempt it :')

Poem and picture have the same title by the way.

He stared into the light
but got trapped in the dark
his wings were stuck
unable to make so much
as an arc.

Gentle eyes looked on
with deep, beating pity
thinking that if free
it could of been so much more
than pretty.

With gentle hands
ready to free
the dark become light
the moth spread it's wings
and took its flight.

Capture

All the poetry I hear or read is so beautiful and I can tell so much work has gone in to it. I feel like I'm what on doing on here can't even compare to it. I don't really have time to think the poems through as much as I'd like. And even these rushed ones mean I have less time to write or think of stories, which I kind of miss. I've got this far though, I'm going to continue, I'll try to make them better but it's difficult.

My pillow keeps my dreams
and is there to catch my screams.
My family holds on to me
and steady me on my feet.

My camera takes a picture of a smile
but in the mean while
my friends can create one
and we can just have fun.

The grass can catch the rain
the bird can catch the worm
that right there
will be always be the same

I'll to capture it all
and save it in my heart
so my memories and I
will never have to part.

Sunshine, De-stress Time

I finished exams today :D

Relief
pours through the system
shoulders relax
palms are light
pair this with blue skies
and smudges of white
lime green grass underfoot
there's nothing to do
but smile
and enjoy the sunshine.

Flashes From Childhood [and a thank you from the halfway point]

Dragons
Dalmatians
trying to see over a wall
or the car seat window
excitement
disbelief
dandelion wishes
imagination
baths
visits to the library
books upon books
giggles
shorts in autumn
large chairs
wide eyed stares
melted kitkats
sand forts fighting
the tide
flume in the pool
rapids outside
me
lost in my own world.

PS - 23.06.11

So I just looked at my blog posts and I think this is number 182, meaning that I'm halfway through with this o.o I didn't think I'd get this far to be honest, I know most of the poems aren't amazing but I'm still quite proud for getting to this point.

And I suppose this is kind of good poem for this fall on to (something I didn't plan) Moving from childhood innocence, to trying to capture the imagination once held so easily but now with an older mind. I don't know, I suppose I'm just trying to see the world through lots of different eyes so I don't get sick of the picture. This kind of helps for it makes it me think what can be a poem, what inspires me, what do people like...

Anyway,

I want to thank you, whether you're one of my friends, random internet stranger, bored browser, for reading this. I can't really believe how many countries have viewed this page! Thank you and I really hope you like at least one poem :') Feel free to stick around to see if I make it through the other half of the year.

A Poem From Back in the Day :')

So I just found lots of emo-esque poems I wrote when I was 14 or 15 :') Dearie me they're shit.
I thought I'd post one of my old poems, this one is the best of bunch. Mainly because I'm not whining xD
Also the picture is taken by me, I used to do that sort of stuff a lot when I was bored.
Well, this has turned in to a nostalgic blog post.

Watching From my Window

The clouds chase each other across the sapphire sky
The branches of trees gently waving at passers by
The streaks of white from planes interrupting the clouds
The rays of the sun giving the tops of houses a cosy glow
The buds on stems beginning to grow
A black bird chirping on a hedge
The cracking white paint on my window ledge
The boredom
The peace
The spring
The time to sit
and do nothing.

Don't You Think?

I wish to be a daffodil
the dandelion wished
its sad yellow head
looking up in admiration
at the glorious height
of its neighbour
I seem rather small
in comparison
don't you think?

At least you're yellow
and have a steam
moaned the grass
its green blades hidden
by the shadows of both
Green is rather dull
don't you think?

Not compared to grey
whined the pavement
its cement whirled
with cracks and chewing gum
at least people enjoy
walking on you
every so often
don't you think?

The sun began to shine
Shush now
focus on you
I'll focus on me
and things will be brighter
don't you think?

I know poetry is meant to have meaning for everyone so take from this what you will.

But keep in mind so you don't have to go bat shit crazy evaluating it (you know, as you do...) I wrote it with the thought in mind that people should who are envious of others don't really think about the good parts of themselves.

Yay for being a hypocrite.

Peace (The Body Has Time)

The sunshine is wonderful for inspiration :) I wrote 3 poems today, which I've never done while I've been doing this. To make life easier for me though, I'll post them over 3 days. As you'll tell by my next poem, I'm feeling pretty mellow today.... despite work load!

It's a mood when the body has time
the pulse slows
the senses take in more
rather than the brain telling them
to ssshh and get on with working.

The feel of bare feet on grass
a bee buzzing
running a hand through the the pond
child like
refreshing none the less
just how green a budding leaf
really is
and the smell of sap on fingers
after a closer look at it.

Overloaded
not with worries or stress
but ideas
brimming
swimming
underneath the skin
once thoughts are silenced
and the body has time.
