Feeling Words

Perhaps the best of time
can't really be described
like this, just with rhyme
and weak words
for feelings are so much more
and these things
can't do justice
they can try and describe
but not really
feel anything themselves.

Heart Skips With the Brain

how cute is the picture? Though not exactly what I was going for with poem.

My brain has a thought
and my heart jumps along
like a puppy on a lead
so just before
going to sleep
an idea or worry
springs to mind
and rather than be kind
and let me rest
my heart decides
to make itself heard
by knocking hard
against my chest.

So now of course
it's beating quick
and with that rolls forward
that certain gaze
and thoughts get covered
in a romantic haze
and all I want to do is sleep
but my brain
sets the heart up
ready to run
and the heart on it's own
pounding desperately
for someone.

Fragments

Conversation
of strangers
important to them
and nothing to you
Jigsaw
trying to fit pieces
and one is always gone
the bigger picture
never done.

Thoughts
one begins, another stops
intelligence and emotion
soon become lost
as the heart beats
and everything is sweeped
suddenly finding the fragments
becomes less clear
and I'm just happy
to be on my way here.

I Value

The feeling of acceptance
lack of self conscious
and being drunk enough to dance
of an idea being created
feeling successful, esteem elated.

The hug of a loved one
which is never unwelcome
laughing and thinking I won't stop
drinking tea when it's good and hot.

Getting lost in the world of a book
a smile at a strange with a second look
a comfortable silence
a gentle kiss
and simple things,
things like this
writing
just thinking
with plenty of time
to wonder what I like
and wonder what's mine.

In My Head

A half empty plate of cupcakes
possibilities
couples at tables
yellow lighting
that looks cosy
maybes
what could happen
something new
pink cloud, kissing the grey
and this just me
what about you
what about everybody?

Blossoming Smile

Smile flits across the face
a blossom petal in the spring
not that lasting
but appreciated and welcome
while it does.

It barely begins to grow
not really there to put on a show
for the camera
or acknowledgement of others.
a personal smile
intended for the person alone
lost in their memories
and travelling  in their own world.

But to everyone else
they are just a stranger
smiling to themselves
and the smile fades
as quickly as the blossom
blows away in a breeze.
