The Contented Buttercup

It sits 
listening to others around 
happy in its position 
on the luscious ground
soft butter petals 
occasionally brushing 
against others 
not quite rooted
but beginning to settle,
yellow 
and mellow 
it soaks up the sun 
to be here and living
amongst everyone.
