Wasting Away

When I'm older 
I want to be me
not like them
still passionate
not tired
not resting
but living
appreciating 
the smaller things
happy
free. 


When I'm older 
I want to be alive
not wasting away.

Innocence

When did the taboo of alchol
become the foundation
of having fun?
When we were young
we needed ourselves
and not much else
now we're grabbing 
from a shelf
desperately at a bottle
wanting to put our hearts
in to full throttle
maybe,
as we become older
we loose the ability 
to loose ourself.

Hiding Mistakes

Shadows show no flaws
only darkness
the shapes
shadings
a silhouette
rather than a full
image. 


Youth allows mistakes 
we can be reckless
drink too much
laugh too loudly
dance to beats
and totter in streets 
having blistering feet
ringing ears
and it all goes under
the umbrella of
I've been there before.


It's almost expected
of us to do such things. 
So don't bring out
in the day
to point out our flaws
let us hide in the shadows
because once,
you were here too. 

Teen

Youth is the best time of our lives 
we can be reckless
not have to think
be chained down
we're free. 


Am I doing myself justice?
I drink
laugh
smile
dance
walk barefoot 
feel the sun
taste
try to find something new


I hope I can look back 
without regret
who knows?
Maybe the best
is yet
to come.
