It's in the pavings of the street
it's in every single soul of whom we meet
it crawls along the hospital walls
it stretches great heights and goes great falls.
It's in the boom of a thunder clap
it's in the darkness, a looming gap
It's in a person's deadly gaze
it's in the calender, counting down days.
It's on every mile, of every road
it's in the water, far down below
it's in the earth itself, forever there
it is always crouching, always prepared.
Depending on others,
solely
on others
not necessarily
bad
all of the time
but when it reaches
the point of despair
where you can't see
anything else
not even the person
you're leaning on
Just stuck in the darkness
and you can't depend
on yourself,
that's when vulnerability
throws you
in to the stormy weather
of desperate company.
Fear of the dark
is not the darkness itself
but the fear of the unknown
if there's something
hidden
in the midst of the shadows.
Fear of death
is not the death itself
but fear of the unknown
if there's nothing
or something
for our so called souls
to end up in.
I'll try shine a torch
in that darkness
hold on to some hope.
