A Story To Tell

It's the final count down, doooo dooo do do do do (just youtube that song)
Ten more poems to go and then I'm done. I don't think it's really sunk in yet that I'm nearly finished.

When you find your thoughts
beyond yourself
when they become more focused
on everybody else,
you realise
that we all have our own stories
(well, of course we do)
but it's how we tell
and how create
that can make our stories
something great.

Perhaps mine won't be
known all around
but it's more so about
keeping my feet on the ground,
remembering there are others
there's everyone else
who's stories may be kept on a shelf
but it's the characters
and the people
who read it and care
they are what's important,
the people whom which
we chose to share.

What Makes the World Go Round

Money
so we earn
and we keep
a living.

Forces
the earth rotates
in space
it doesn't really
concern itself
with the human race.

Time will keep turning
as will the earth
we'll have to keep earning
to try keep our place.

Beginning

oneword.com for title :)
ps the picture is from a music video - This Love- Like A Million Lights.
The chorus has the word beginning in and I thought of it a lot when writing this. I love that song :')

Something new
we haven't really started yet
opportunities hidden
we don't know what's coming
but we have to move forward
to keep our story going
our lives flowing
because with every beginning
and every new chapter
we take a leap forward
never really knowing
what will happen
but hoping in the end
it was worth it.

Looking Back at the End of the World

If the world were to end tomorrow
I assume most people would be
afraid as a lost child in the dark
full of sorrow
at the things they haven't done
worrying over
if they've haven't embraced life
had fun,
others may regret
that they didn't create enough
times they wouldn't want to forget.

As for me?
Of course I would see it as a tragedy
but looking back
there are times of regret
times of smiles
and all the while
knowing I have people
and memories that we've shared
it's not a life time
but I hope it would be enough
to get me through
if I knew, that the world
would end soon.

Brushing Past

We brush past one another
separate colours
spreading on the canvas
we should mix more
see the bigger picture
see how we connect
and make sure that our time
is well spent
and painted bright
rather than just
in black and white.

Rebuild

Saw the word 'rebuild' on a sign and liked the word so thought I would make a poem about it. Because I'm that cool.

Rebuild
either brick by brick
or with a hand held out
with a tissue and tears
or smiles to replace  the shouts.

Whether physical
or emotional
family or friend
house or community
there will always be people
around to help,
until the very end.

Okay

I may not know
the always right thing to say
I may not know
if I'm in the way
but I know that really
everyone is the same
and that makes the things
I don't know
okay.

Comfort In & Out

Beginning to find a style
clothes that fit
not just the body
but you
yourself
feeling comfortable

Walking the streets
head may not be held high
but beginning to feel okay
with passers by

To not conform
or be in the uniform
of the trends
just trying to find
a second skin
not worried
about fitting in,
for once.

Mistakes

On my iPod, midnight so this is SATURDAY's poem. Work tomorrow then a party .... I'll try not to die o.o

Everybody makes mistakes
we never start as perfect
we learn
and hopefully
we grow,
beginning to know
how to act, what to do
maybe not confident
simply a bit more competent
and carving our place
in to the world
for we have purpose
and have a vague idea
of how to mess it up.

If You Don't, You Won't.

If you look for worry
problems
stress
you'll find them
if you don't
you won't.

If you look for flaws
in others
the mirror
you'll find them
if you don't
you won't.

If you look for me
or you
love
acceptance
you'll find it
if you don't
you won't.

If you look for half empty
that it will be.

I Don't Know Why

I don't know
you

I don't know
whether I'm
making the most
of being young

I don't know
maths
or science
that well at all

I don't know
what's said
behind my back

I don't know
why we have poverty
and why we have war
why we have disease
where there is no cure

I don't know how society
became to behave like today
I suppose,
I'm just trying to live
and be okay.

When I Was Your Age

Think I mentioned my idea for this a few posts ago? I got it yesterday =]
But not writing a poem about it because the seems silly xD

When I was your age
I wasn't like that, right?
I was older when I did that
and that
most definitely that
Or maybe they're not the ones
growing up too quickly
I am.

And as the technology increases
so does the ageing process
leaving us reeling
and trying
to keep a firm grasp
on our own reality
and look back fondly
on the fantasy
of when we were that age.

Forward. Or Not.

One step forward
feeling confident
a whisper
a look
a shiver across
the shoulders
and down the spine
doubt flickers
one step back
and then another
a nod
better
arm folded
shoulders now hunched
don't do that again.

Enriching Life

Never enough
Always want to buy
something
the next thing
the better thing
but not everything
just what you want
what you need

Not needed to be happy
for they say that
the best things in life are free,
laughing
family
smiles
friends
hugs
sunshine
the smell of cut grass
love

But really
most likely
everybody wants
some more money.

Yes, the last verse is meant to be smaller.

Wonder

Quite a childish, simple one today. Oh well. I got the title from oneword.com

I wonder what will become of you
and what will become of me
Will we grow together?
Will we be free?

I wonder how the moon spins
I wonder about the stars
I wonder whether if if there really
is, life on the planet Mars.

I wonder if we see colour
all in the same light
I wonder if anyone thinks of me
late in to the night.

I wonder if about the wind
what shade would it be
but really,
most of all
I just wonder about you and me.

Glasses

Do they hide the eyes
the windows the soul
cover the face
make you a disgrace?

Or they add to the structure
of the bones
the cheeks
to the eyes
adding an element
of mystery
maybe a surprise

Nerd.
Sophisticated.
Hidden.
Intelligent.
You'd think I'd be
able to figure it out
considering
what's on my face.

THe Harshest of Judges

You think everybody is looking
judging your every move
but few
if any
are actually watching you.

Nobody cares really
about that mistake
well,
they might do
just nowhere near
as much you.

The mirror is the enemy
for it highlights every flaw
makes your eyes
downcast
and you memorize the floor.

We don't realize
we're selfish
since we are too busy
focusing
on ourselves.

Compassion

It's hope
in humanity
that we still,
despite it all
look out for
each other
like a sister
or brother
not for reward
or for own
satisfaction
but simply
because
its the right
thing to do.
