Cigarettes in the no-man's land
between grass
and cement
clinging desperately
to the green
not wanting to be stuck
in the grey dreary sea
like a child clutching
to their mothers clothes
when afraid.
Let me stay in the green
where it's alive
don't leave me
drowning in the grey.
